“In Lumine Tuo Videbimis Lumen – In Your Light We See Light” – Psalm 36:9
The Scripture verse above is famous for being the motto of Columbia University. But it is also the motto of the perhaps less famous Jesuit college – St. Xavier’s College, Mumbai – I attended as an undergraduate. As a young science student in those days, that motto struck a chord and has stuck with me over the years both through my academic journey and my career as a scientist and also as a grounding principle in my own life. As a scientist, I have learned that humility is one of the greatest traits a scientist can have – there is so much to learn, both from those who have laid the foundation ahead of us, and that the universe itself has to teach us. The awe of discovery, the wonder of creation – these are all breath-taking things that we can take for granted in our modern world. In the midst of the craziness of this world, daily Scripture readings have been one constant, that have often brought me back to reality, grounding me, and reminding me of things that are more important than the day-to-day struggle of life. I offer these links here in the hope that they can be the same source of inspiration for you as they are for me.
